The Longhorns flirted with recruiting danger in the 2019 class along the offensive line. Texas ended up signing three four-star offensive tackle prospects, but it wasn’t without drama. Tyler Johnson pledged early and remained committed, though Isaiah Hookfin signed on the final day of the early period and Javonne Shepherd waited until February.
That won’t be the case in 2020. The Longhorns gained a pledge from three-star Jaylen Garth, an offensive lineman from Port Neches-Groves. He blocked for 2019 quarterback signee Roschon Johnson. Garth is the No. 32-ranked player on the 2020 Fabulous 55. He’s the third offensive lineman to pledge to Texas in the class, joining Logan Parr and Jake Majors and the fifth overall commitment in the 2020 cycle.
