Texas’ recruiting class fell to four members in the 2020 cycle on Friday morning when four-star athlete Mookie Cooper de-committed from the Longhorns. The 5-11 wide receiver was the highest-rated commit in the 2020 class when he pledged to Tom Herman’s program at junior day on Feb. 16. He hails from Trinity Catholic in Missouri, which is the same school that produced 2019 signee, Marcus Washington.
Cooper visited Illinois over the weekend. He’s also aware of the talent ahead of him at the slot receiver position after Texas signed Jordan Whittington and Jake Smith in the 2019 class. The Longhorns are still in the mix for Cooper, he said, but that more time was needed before he was ready to completely shutdown his recruitment. All four of Texas’ current commits now hail from Texas.
