Texas women’s golf ties for first at Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational

The Texas women’s golf team shot 299 on the final day of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational to tie for first place in Kailua, Hawaii, on Wednesday.

The Longhorns and SMU each shot 887 for the tournament to tie atop the team standings. It’s the first time since the 1992-93 season that Texas finished in first for three regular-season tournaments. It’s the Longhorns’ second straight Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational title.

Hailee Cooper tied for sixth after shooting 222, 6 over par. A trio of Longhorns tied for 11th. Kaitlyn Papp, Sara Kouskova and Emilee Hoffman each shot 224, 8 over par.

Maddie Luitwieler had a tough final round, shooting 83, to finish tied for 28th at 229, 13 over par. She shot 72 in the first round before a second-round 74.

Texas A&M finished in third, led by Courtney Dow who won medalist honors after shooting 216, even.

Maren Cipolla tied for 20th, competing as an individual for Texas.
