The Texas softball team needed just three runs to secure a shutout win over BYU at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville on Saturday.
After scoring 19 runs over their first two games of the invitational, Texas (24-6) relied on timely hitting and solid pitching to claim the 3-0 win.
Brooke Bolinger earned the win with a one-hit, five-inning performance in the circle. She struck out 10 batters and walked just one.
Miranda Elish picked up the save, allowing one hit while striking out three batters.
Reagan Hathaway and Kaitlyn Slack each had two hits and an RBI. Lauren Burke had an RBI as she drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning. Every RBI in the game came with two outs.
Hathaway got the Longhorns on the scoreboard with a single to score Slack in the second inning.
In the third inning, Slack doubled to drive home McKenzie Parker, who had reached on a double.
Texas will close out action at the Tennessee Invitational with a rematch against the host squad. Texas lost 9-5 to the No. 5 Volunteers on Friday.
