Texas women take fifth in 800-yard freestyle relay at NCAA Championships

For the third straight year the Texas women’s 800-yard freestyle relay team finished in the top five at the NCAA Championships. The event kicked off Wednesday at the Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

The team, comprised of Quinn Carrozza, Claire Adams, Evie Pfiefer and Joanna Evans, recorded the third-best time in UT history to take fifth place.

Texas finished the race in 6 minutes, 55.80 seconds.

Stanford leads the team standings early with 40 points. Texas sits in fifth place with 28 points.

The women’s team will compete in numerous events on Thursday: the 200 freestyle relay, the 500 freestyle, the 50 freestyle, the 1-meter diving event and the 400 medley relay.
