The No. 4 Texas men’s tennis team dropped just two sets on the way to a 7-0 sweep of Texas Tech at the Texas Tennis Center on Friday.
The Longhorns (18-2) won the doubles point and took six singles wins to open Big 12 play.
Chih Chi Huang defeated Franco Ribero to clinch the match for the Longhorns. Huang won 6-2, 6-2.
Huang and Yuya Ito opened competition with a doubles win over Matheus Leite and Ilgiz Valiev. The Texas duo won 6-2 before Colin Markes and Leonardo Telles won 6-3 over Jackson Cobb and Tommy Mylnikov to clinch the point.
Ito kept the pressure on as he took his singles match 6-1, 6-1 over Mylnikov.
Rodrigo Banzer also won in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 to make it 3-0 in favor of Texas.
After Huang clinched the match, Telles, Christian Sigsgaard and Harrison Scott each won their singles contests.
