An RBI single to left center field by Breanna Russell lifted the No. 15 Texas Tech Red Raiders to a 3-2 win over the No. 11 Texas softball team Saturday afternoon in Lubbock.
The walk-off result tied the series which concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lubbock.
Erin Edmoundson earned the win for Tech (30-7), giving up two runs on four hits in a complete game. She struck out six.
Shea O’Leary gave up one run on four hits in three innings. The history-making freshman left the game with Texas (33-9) ahead so she took no decision.
Brooke Bolinger suffered the loss as she gave up two runs on three hits in 3 2/3 innings. She stuck out seven and walked two.
Shannon Rhodes went 2-for-3 and hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to give Texas a 2-1 lead. Those were the only runs Texas would score, however.
Peyton Blythe doubled in the second inning to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead. Zoe Jones scored on the play.
Tech tied the game in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Russell that allowed Edmoundson to score.
