The Texas women defeated Baylor 4-1 in a quarterfinal match to advance at the Big 12 Tennis Championships in Lawrence, Kan., on Friday.
Petra Granic defeated Paula Baranano to clinch the 11th straight win for the Longhorns. Granic won 6-4, 7-5 to set up a semifinal match with Texas Tech at 3 p.m. Saturday.
Texas started on the right foot, winning the doubles point. Anna Turati and Bianca Turati won 7-6 in the deciding doubles match for the point.
Bojana Markovic made it 2-0 for Texas with a 6-2, 6-3 singles win over Kris Sorokolet.
After Baylor made it 2-1, Katie Poluta put Texas on the brink of victory with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Dominika Sujova.
