Two doubles and a dominant performance by Miranda Elish in the circle proved to be the difference as the Texas softball team topped Kansas 3-0 in Lawrence on Friday.
Elish allowed just two hits and struck out 10 to earn the complete-game shutout. She walked only one and helped her cause by getting a hit and scoring a run.
Kaitlyn Washington gave the No. 11 Longhorns (37-12, 8-6 Big 12) a two-run lead when she doubled to drive home MK Tedder and Shannon Rhodes in the fourth inning.
Lauren Burke added some insurance in the sixth inning by doubling home Elish.
Tedder went 2-for-3, as did Mary Iakopo for Texas.
Brynn Minor suffered the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk. No Longhorn struck out in the game.
Sydnee Ramsey and Morgyn Wynne had the only hits for the Jayhawks (15-30, 3-10).
