Texas’ recruiting draught in the 2020 cycle ended with the pledge of dual-threat quarterback Ja’Quinden Jackson. The 6-2, 219-pound four-star is ranked as the fourth-best athlete in the nation and the No. 2 player on the 2020 Fabulous 55. He plays quarterback for Duncanville, and contends he wants to continue at the position in college. Jackson is the sixth commitment for Texas in the 2020 cycle, all of which play offense.

Jackson helped Duncanville reach the Class 6A Division I state championship, playing well before suffering a last-second loss to Galena Park North Shore on a hail-mary pass. Many believe his highest potential is away from the quarterback position. Jackson is talented enough to play wide receiver or linebacker.
Jackson completed 64 percent of his passes for 1,580 yards and 15 touchdowns to just three interceptions as a junior. He averaged more than 10 yards a carry, racking up 1,497 yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground. Jackson is a big-bodied quarterback, much like current starter Sam Ehlinger. Texas also holds a commitment in the 2020 class from Lake Travis quarterback Hudson Card.
