John Tyler cornerback Kitan Crawford became Texas’ first defensive commitment of the 2020 class Friday night when the four-star pledged to the Longhorns on a visit to Austin. The 5-11, 200-pound cornerback is Texas’ seventh commitment of the 2020 cycle. Crawford is ranked No. 49 on the 2020 Fabulous 55 and is the eighth-ranked athlete in the country. He’ll play cornerback for the Longhorns. Crawford is a track star who is among the favorites to win the 100-meter dash in Class 6A as a senior.

Texas is off to a relatively slow start in the 2020 class compared to rival programs like Texas A&M and Oklahoma. Expect Crawford’s commitment to be one of a handful of pledges towards the Longhorns in the summer months. Crawford is among dozens of top targets in multiple recruiting classes currently in town for a recruiting event hosted by Texas, which includes a pool party on Saturday.
