Manor defensive lineman Princely Umanmielen commits to Texas

Texas stayed local to land four-star defensive end Princely Umanmielen. The four-star from Manor High School surprised the recruiting community by pledging to the Longhorns on Monday afternoon. The 6-4, 249-pound defender picked Texas over programs like Texas A&M and Oklahoma. He’s now the 15th commitment in Texas’ 2020 recruiting class, which ranks sixth in the nation. Umanmielen is No. 28 on the 2020 Fabulous 55 and a national top-250 prospect, per 247Sports composite rankings.

Umanmielen was a first-team all-district selection as a junior after recording 45 tackles, including 21 for loss, and 5.5 sacks. He also caused two fumbles. The big-bodied defensive lineman is expected to play the 4i position utilized by Texas’ odd-man defensive front. That position is currently manned by Malcolm Roach. Texas’ top remaining target along the defensive line is Bastrop Cedar Creek’s Alfred Collins.
