ESPN brought its “College GameDay” show to the University of Texas campus Saturday morning and the UT “minister of culture” stole the show. Actor, alum and sometimes Austin resident Matthew McConaughey arrived on set driving a vintage Lincoln LTD with longhorns on the front.

McConaughey is more than just UT’s unofficial spirit animal at this point. He joined the Moody College of Communication faculty last month.

He joined the “GameDay” commentators as they made their predictions for today’s game. “Ditto on that,” McConaughey said in agreeing to one pick, a phrase that quickly caught on on the set.

Of course, he picked the Longhorns to defeat LSU on Saturday night. “Thank you for coming to our house, Tigers,” McConaughey said.” Tonight we’re going to send you home as losers 29-27.”

He then joined ESPN’s Lee Corso in a rather off-key version of “The Eyes of Texas,” before Corso angered the crowd by donning the LSU Tiger mascot head and picking the visitors.
