The Texas volleyball team dropped the first set but went on to defeat BYU 23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18 at the Shocker Volleyball Classic in Wichita, Kan. on Friday.
Logan Eggleston led the Longhorns with 25 kills while Micaya White added 21. Eggleston finished with a hitting percentage of .367 with White connecting on .347 of her attacks. Both Eggleston and White also had double-digit kills. White picked up 14 while Eggleston had 11.
Jhenna Gabriel led Texas with 49 assists while adding nine digs. Texas did well defensively, with four members recording double-digit digs. Sydney Petersen led with 19 digs while Claire Hahn added 10.
After Texas dropped a close first set, the Longhorns led most of the way in the second set. Eggleston had two kills to close out the second set to tie the match.
In Game 3, the Longhorns led 16-14 before they went on a 9-5 run to close out the set and take a 2-1 lead.
Texas fell behind 6-4 in the fourth game, but took the lead at 10-9 on a block by Eggleston and Molly Phillips. BYU regained the lead at 12-11 before Texas went on a 4-0 run to take control.
