The top-ranked Texas men’s golf team sits in third place after the first round of the OFCC/Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill.
Pierceson Coody led the Longhorns, and the entire field, on Friday with a 67. He made par on 11 holes and sank five birdies.
The Longhorns shot 281 and are three shots behind No. 3 Georgia. No. 10 Pepperdine is one shot ahead of Texas in second place.
Cole Hammer is tied for 21st with teammate Travis Vick after both shot 71.
Parker Coody shot 72 and is tied for 38th, and Will Thomson is tied for 47th after a 73.
Texas is set to tee off at 9:30 a.m. for the second round Saturday.
