The No. 1 Texas men’s golf team dropped to sixth place at the OFCC/Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill. on Saturday.
Texas shot 296, 15 shots more than its first-round total of 286. The Longhorns’ 577 is 13 shots behind first-place Baylor. Georgia Tech trails the Bears by one shot while Pepperdine sits in third.
Cole Hammer leads Texas with a 139 after two rounds of action. He improved by three shots in the second round, firing 68 to sit in a tie for third place. Austin Eckroat of Oklahoma State leads the field at 3-under-par 137. Cooper Dossey of Baylor is second at 138.
No other Longhorns shot better than 74 on the par 70 course.
Pierceson Coody followed his first-round 67 with a 74 while Parker Coody and Will Thomson each shot 77. Pierceson Coody sits tied for ninth.
Travis Vick and Parker Coody are tied for 52nd. Thomson sits in a tie for 58th.
The competition concludes on Sunday.
