Yuya Ito advances at ITA All-American Championships

Yuya Ito won twice to advance to the semifinals at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. on Friday.

Ito defeated Adam Walton of Tennessee 7-5, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and will face Alex Rotsaert of Stanford on Saturday.

Earlier, Ito topped Matias Soto of Baylor 6-1, 6-3 in the round of 16.

On Thursday, Ito took the only win for Texas. He defeated Tim Sandkaulen of Mississippi 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 in the singles round of 32.

Christian Sigsgaard fell to Gui Osorio of San Diego 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in an upset of the No. 2 player.

Ito and Sigsgaard also fell in the doubles round of 16 to Dominik Kellovsky and Matej Vocel of Oklahoma State 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (8).

On Wednesday, the Longhorns took three wins.

Sigsgaard defeated Siphosothando Montsi of Illinois 6-2, 6-1 while Ito beat Josh Charlton 6-3, 6-1 in the first round of singles action.

Sigsgaard and Ito teamed up to defeat Mukerl Dellien and Marius Frosa of Wichita State 6-1, 6-4 in the round of 32 doubles draw.
