The first casualty of the defensive struggles felt by Texas in the 2019 season was Manor defensive end Princely Umanmielen. The local four-star backed away from his pledge to the Longhorns on Wednesday afternoon with an announcement on Twitter. The 6-4, 249-pound senior was a first-team all-district selection as a junior.

Umanmielen pledged to Texas on Aug. 12 and was part of a 20-man class that ranked fifth in the nation and first in the Big 12. Umanmielen picked up an offer from Auburn on Sept. 25 and took an official visit to Oklahoma in September. Texas’ 2020 class now consists of 19 prospects.
