Texas women’s tennis players earn multiple wins at H-E-B Pro Tennis Open

The Longhorns’ Turati twins each advanced to the singles quarterfinals at the H-E-B Pro Tennis Open at the Texas Tennis Center on Thursday.

Bianca Turati, the tournament’s top seed, defeated Fiona Crowley 6-2, 6-3. Anna Turati took a 6-4, 6-2 win over Isabel Adrover Gallego.

Fernanda Labraña also competed in the round of 16 but fell to Anastasia Sysoeva 7-6, 7-6.

In doubles, Labraña  and Melany Solange Krywoj beat Brittany Collens and Mara Schmidt 6-3, 6-1. The Turati sisters held a 6-4, 4-1 lead against Alexa Noel and Gianna Pielet when play got suspended due to weather. The match will be completed Friday at 3 p.m.

Labraña and Krywoj face Tiphanie Fiquet and Alyssa Tobita at 2 p.m. Friday.

Bianca Turati faces Dominique Schaefer at 12:30 p.m. Friday in the singles quarterfinals. Anna Turati takes on Elvina Kalieva at the same time.

On Wednesday, Labraña, Anna Turati and Bianca Turati each earned wins in the round of 32.

Labraña defeated Ashlyn Krueger 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. The Turati twins each won in straight sets. Anna Turati topped Mara Schmidt 6-2, 6-0 while Bianca Turati beat Kailey Evans 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

Lexi Ryngler, Tijana Spasojevic and Marta Perez Mur each fell in singles action Wednesday. Ryngler fell to Fiona Crawley 7-5, 6-3. Spasojevic lost to Alexa Noel 6-0, 6-1 and Perez Mur retired after falling behind 6-0, 1-1.

On Tuesday, Gabby Cusano and Perez Mur beat Alisha Reayer and Maria Aran Teixido Garcia 6-4, 6-3 in the doubles round of 16. Labraña and Krywoj also topped Madison Appel and Dominique Schaefer 1-6, 7-6 (7-2), 1-0 (10-5).
