The Texas soccer team beat Iowa State 3-2 early Friday at Myers Stadium to hold steady in second in the Big 12 standings.
The match moved to Friday morning after lightning postponed the Thursday night contest.
The game was knotted at halftime before Texas (10-6-0, 5-2-0 Big 12) scored twice and held on for the win.
Haley Berg scored the winning goal in the 79th minute. That makes eight goals for Berg on the season.
Julia Grosso also scored her eighth goal to tie her with Berg for the team lead and put the Longhorns ahead in the 24th minute.
Tavin Hays tied the game in the 36th minute.
Mackenzie McFarland gave Texas the lead once again in the 65th minute.
After Berg gave Texas a two-goal lead, Kenady Adams made things interesting with a goal in the 90th minute.
Savannah Adams improved to 3-3-0 in net for the Longhorns. She made four saves while her counterpart Georgia Wimmer made six. Wimmer had more to deal with than Adams as the Longhorns put nine shots on goal to the Cyclones’ seven.
The Longhorns trail Oklahoma State in the Big 12 standings by a single point. Texas next hosts No. 17 Texas Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.
