A pair of Longhorns advanced to the round of 16 at the ITA National Fall Championships in Newport Beach, Calif. on Thursday.
Anna Turati and Lexi Ryngler each won singles matches to advance. Turati defeated Alle Sanford of North Carolina 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 in the round of 32. Ryngler rallied to beat Meible Chi of Duke 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Turati next faces Georgia Drummy of Vanderbilt while Ryngler takes on Sara Daavettila of North Carolina on Friday.
Elsewhere, Bianca Turati took a win over Samantha Murray of Great Britain. Murray had to retire while trailing 5-2 at the ITF Malibu 25k pro circuit event in Malibu, Calif. Turati will take on Jovana Jaksic of Serbia in the quarterfinals on Friday.
