With a half-dozen seniors on its roster, Texas lands signatures from six softball recruits
Posted November 14th, 2019
When it came to recruiting this week, the Texas softball team did some basic math.
Texas announced on Thursday that it had signed six players. The Longhorns added New Boston infielder Carlee Ratcliff, George Ranch catcher Jayden βJJβ Smith, Abilene infielder Alyssa Washington, Jacksonville first baseman Jordyn Whitaker to its program. The program also signed New Jersey pitcher Ryleigh White and California utility player Bailey Williams.
Texas has six seniors on its 2020 roster.
“With the graduation of six players coming up in the spring of 2020, this incoming class will be pivotal in building our program for the next several years,” Texas coach Mike White was quoted as saying in a press release. “Our incoming class has strong Texas roots with the athleticism and positional requirements required to make Texas Softball one of the top programs in the country.”
Ryleigh White was rated as a top-20 recruit by both Extra Inning Softball and Softball America. White also ranked 33rd on a FloSoftball list that featured Washington (No. 88) and Smith (No. 98). During the 2019 season, Whitaker was District 16-5A’s MVP while Ratcliff was honored as District 14-3A’s top defender. As a junior, Williams touted a .364 batting average and a .998 fielding percentage.
