Texas freshman advances at the DropshotLLC Men’s Pro Tennis Open

Siem Woldeab rallied to take a quarterfinal victory at the DropshotLLC Men’s Pro Tennis Open at the Texas Tennis Center on Friday.
Woldeab defeated Evan Zhu 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the semifinals.
The Texas freshman continued his impressive run after a straight-sets victory Thursday. Woldeab topped Leighton Allen, a Texas signee, 6-3, 6-1 in the round of 16.
Also competing at the event is former Longhorn George Goldhoff. He and doubles partner Jaime Bendeck took a 6-2, 6-4 win over Ricardo Alban and Diaz Jalil in Thursday’s quarterfinals.
In Thursday’s main singles draw, Cleeve Harper and Yuya Ito didn’t advance. Ito conceded a walkover to Jacob Fearnley while Harper fell to Harrison Adams 6-2, 6-2.
Ito earned a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win over Alen Avidzba in the round of 32 Wednesday.
