The Texas men’s team came away with the top spot at the Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville on Saturday while the women took third place.
The Longhorns scored 79 points, four points ahead of Oregon and six points ahead of host Arkansas to claim the win.
The men sealed the victory with a win in the 1600-meter relay, the final event of the meet. Jon Maas, Jonathan Jones, Micaiah Harris and Moyo Oyebamiji posted a mark of 3 minutes, 7.85 seconds for the win. It’s the fourth-best time in the NCAA this season.
The women scored 70 points, trailing first place LSU by 26 points.
Jones also won the men’s 400-meter invitational in 46.04. On the women’s side, Kennedy Simon won the race in a personal best 52.20, which is the best time in the NCAA this season.
Maas took the 400 meters in 47.56. Brooke Jaworski took second for the women in the same race.
Tripp Piperi won the shot put with a mark of 66 feet, 3 1/4 inches.
Julien Alfred added another victory for Texas, taking the women’s 60 meters in 7.15.
In another field victory, O’Brien Wasome won the men’s triple jump with a mark of 53-9.
