In two days, the Texas softball team defeated the top two teams in the country, but then it split a pair of games Saturday at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif.

Texas (19-3) couldn’t keep the momentum going after the big wins as it fell to Fresno State 4-3 in Saturday’s early game. The Longhorns bounced back later in the day with a 1-0 win over No. 13 Michigan, however.

Shea O’Leary pitched the shutout, allowing four hits while striking out six against the Wolverines.

A sacrifice fly by Kaitlyn Slack scored Colleen Sullivan in the sixth for the only run Texas needed.

In the first game, a three-run first inning gave the Bulldogs the edge and an RBI single by Vanessa Hernandez in the fifth inning gave Fresno State just enough insurance to survive.

Courtney Day went 2-for-3 with two home runs, but it wasn’t enough offense for Texas.

Miranda Elish fell to 8-3 as she allowed four runs on eight hits through six innings.

Hailey Dolcini earned the win, allowing two earned runs on five hits in six innings.
