The Texas and Oklahoma State soccer teams played to a scoreless draw on Sunday in Stillwater, Okla.
The Cowgirls (5-6-2, 0-2-2) outshot Texas 22-11 and led 6-4 in shots on goal, but were stymied by Texas goalie Abby Smith.
Smith had six saves and leads the Big 12 with 67 this season. It was her fourth shutout of the season and 28th of her career. She needs one more shutout to tie Dianna Pfenninger’s school record.
Smith had a clutch save in the 63rd minute when Madison Mercado got a one-on-one with the Texas keeper and hit a shot that Smith deflected with her right foot away from the goal. Just 33 seconds later, Smith tipped a shot by Allie Stephenson over the crossbar to preserve the tie.
Texas (4-3-4, 1-1-1) managed just two shots in the second half and was outshot 6-3 in the two overtime periods. The Longhorns have been shut out in three of their past four matches.
