The Texas soccer team closed its Big 12 regular season with a 2-1 loss to Baylor on Sunday afternoon at soggy Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Baylor’s Katie Daigle converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute and the Bears went up 2-0 less than three minutes later on a goal by Lauren Piercy.
Texas’ Mikayla Flores scored in the 86th minute, but the Longhorns we unable to kick in the equalizer.
The Longhorns (7-5-4) lost their final two conference matches after winning three straight and ended the Big 12 season at 4-3-1.
The victory moved Baylor (9-5-2) into second place in the Big 12 at 4-1-1. The Bears are 9-2-1 over their past 12 matches and trail first-place West Virginia (15-1-1, 6-0-1) by six points with two games remaining. The Bears will play their Big 12 season finale against the Mountaineers on Friday.
Texas will play one more regular-season game against Montana on Friday at 7 p.m. at home. The Big 12 Women’s Soccer Championship will start Nov. 4 in Kansas City, Mo.
