Posted August 28th, 2016

Katie Glenn converted a header in the 45th minute and Alexa Adams scored for the second straight match as Texas defeated Detroit 3-1 Sunday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

The Longhorns (2-1-0) out-shot Detroit 19-4 and held an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Texas took the lead in the closing seconds of the first half when Glenn headed in a pass from Julia Dyche. Detroit (1-2-0) managed just one shot in the first half.

The Longhorns went up by two in the 57th minute when a free kick deflected off a Detroit defender and ricocheted into the net.

Westwood grad Nakia Graham sent a ball across the box in the 73rd minute and Adams hit a header that hit off the right post and rolled across the goal line. Dating back to last season, Adams has scored seven times over her last ten shots on goal.

Texas goalie Paige Brown, a senior transfer from Louisville, had her first start of the season and had a shutout going until the 87th minute when Anna Mindling scored from ten yards out.
