Texas outside hitter Amy Neal is the Big 12 volleyball player of the year.
The award was announced Monday and marked the seventh year in a row the league’s player of the year came from Texas.
Neal, of Lake Travis, led the Big 12 in the regular season in service aces (0.46 per set) and was second in kills (4.28).
Texas, the No. 3 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, opens play against Fairfield on Thursday.
Joining Neal on the All-Big 12 first team were MB Molly McCage, OH Paulina Prieto Cerame, MB Chiaka Ogbogu and setter Chloe Collins. Libero Cat McCoy made second team, and OH Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghanti landed on the freshman team.
Kansas’ Ray Bechard was named coach of the year.
