QB Jerrod Heard – No. 7 Denton Guyer (5-4A)
Overall: 6-2 District: 5-0
Last week: Heard scored four touchdowns in Guyer’s 56-30 win over No. 17 Wichita Falls Rider. The future Longhorn quarterback threw for two scores while completing 8 of 15 passes for 117 yards and ran for two while racking up 216 yards on 23 attempts.
Next week: at Wichita Falls 5-3 (4-1)

DE Derick Roberson – No. 2 San Antonio Brennan (28-4A)
Overall: 9-0 District: 5-0
Last week: After another blowout, this one a 64-0 rout of SA Highlands, it might be time to wonder if Brennan will be able to handle adversity in a tight playoff game. They haven’t had a game decided by less than 28 points and are winning by an average of 54.3 points. They also have seven shutouts.
Next week: vs. SA Jefferson 0-8 (0-4)
Season stats: 42 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 7 sacks

WR Armanti Foreman/RB D’Onta Foreman – No. 4 Texas City (24-4A)
Overall: 8-0 District 5-0
Last week: Texas City remained undefeated and moved up to No. 4 in 4A with a 44-0 win over Galena Park. D’Onta Foreman finished with 176 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.  Armanti caught only three balls for 31 yards in the blowout.
Next week: vs. Santa Fe 2-6 (1-4)

RB Donald Catalon – Aldine Eisenhower (18-5A)
Overall: 3-6 District 3-2
Last week: The Eagles moved all the way up to third in the district with a 42-21 win over Houston Nimitz. Catalon’s contributions came only as a receiver, where he caught three balls for 117 yards and a touchdown. Beating winless Aldine puts Eisenhower in the playoffs.
Next week: at Houston Aldine 0-8 (0-4)
Season: 90 rush, 524 yards 5 TD; 13 rec, 275 yards, 2 TD

S John Bonney – No. 5 Houston Lamar (20-5A)
Overall: 7-0 District: 4-0
Last week: The 2012 state finalists kept up their winning ways with a 56-7 decision over Houston Madison. The Redskins are allowing just over seven points per game this season. The district title will be settled this weekend against Bellaire.
Next week: vs. Houston Bellaire 7-1 (4-0)

LB Otaro Alaka – Cy Falls (17-5A)
Overall: 2-6 District: 2-5
Last week: Falls went back to the losing column after being trounced, 37-15, by Cy-Woods. Alaka and the Eagles have allowed 279 points this season, the worst of the 10-team district.
Next week: vs. Cy-Fair 7-1 (6-1)

WR Lorenzo Joe – Abilene Cooper (2-5A)
Overall: 6-3 District 5-2
Last week: Joe accounted for 337 total yards and three touchdowns (11/15, 146, TD; 19 rushes, 191, 2 TD), but was a half yard and two point shy of getting the win for Cooper. The Cougars opted to go for two after scoring a touchdown with :23 seconds remaining in the game, but Joe’s QB sneak on the potential game-winning two-point conversion came up a half yard short in the 54-53 loss.

Season: 84/152, 1,380 yards, 10 TD, 3 INT; 150 rush, 1,325 yards, 17 TD

RB Kevin Shorter – No. 2 Newton (10-2A Division 1)
Overall: 8-0 District 5-0
Last week: Newton remained undefeated with a 62-27 win over Anahuac despite not having Shorter on the field (he suffered a concussion in Week 6). With the remaining opponents, the Eagles should be undefeated heading into the postseason.
Next week: vs. Hardin 3-4 (1-4)
Season (6 games): 61 rush, 630 yards, 9 TD; 11 rec, 224 yards, 4 TD
C Terrell Cuney – Jasper (20-3A)
Overall: 4-3 District: 1-1
Last week: Jasper fell to No. 7 Carthage, 41-26, in a game that decided the 20-3A race. The Bulldogs ran for 279 yards, but it wasn’t enough against one of the best teams in 3A.
Next week: at Huntington 1-6 (0-2)

DE Sione Teuhema – Keller (4-5A)
Overall: 4-4 District: 1-4
Last week: Keller ran into a buzz saw in 8th-ranked Southlake Carroll, falling 52-17. Teuhema picked up two sacks in the loss as the Indians fall to 1-4 in district and out of playoff contention.
Next week vs. Timber Creek 2-6 (1-4)
Season: 68 tackles, 15 TFL, 10 sacks

LB Cameron Hampton – No. 17 Dallas Carter (11-4A)
Overall: 8-0 District: 5-0
Last week: Carter remained undefeated with a 50-0 win over North Dallas. 7-1 Seagoville looms at the end of the season as the only hurdle between the Cowboys and an outright district championship.
Next week: at Dallas Pinkston 3-5 (1-4)

DL Jake McMillon – Abilene (2-5A)
Overall: 3-6 District: 3-4
Last week: The Eagles kept their postseason hopes alive with a 42-21 win over Odessa. They’ll need to win their regular season finale this weekend and have Odessa Permian lose its final two games to sneak into the playoffs.
Next week: at Midland 4-4 (3-3)
Season: 29 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT

WR Garrett Gray – Marble Falls (25-4A)
Overall: 3-5 District: 1-3
Last week: The Mustangs took the first step towards making the playoffs by edging Vista Ridge 45-41. Gray caught 10 balls for 185 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a fourth score. Marble Falls must win out, including the season finale vs. Leander to make the postseason.
Next week: at Dripping Springs 2-6 (0-4)
Season: 58 rec, 1,008 yards, 17 TD; 6 rush, 2 yards, 3 TD

DT Trey Lealaimatafao – San Antonio Warren (27-5A)
Overall: 6-2 District: 5-1
Last week: Warren was reeled off five straight wins since it’s district-opening loss to still undefeated SA Brandeis. This week the Warriors topped SA Stevens 28-13 to assure themselves a spot in the postseason.
Next week: at SA Taft 2-6 (2-4)
Season: 31 tackles, 5 TFL

WR Emanuel Porter – Dallas Lincoln (12-4A)
Overall: 5-3 District: 4-1
Last week: Lincoln topped Dallas Hillcrest 33-22 to all but lock up a spot in the playoffs. Porter had a quiet day with just two receptions for 25 yards in the win.
Next week: at Dallas Hillcrest 5-2 (2-2)
Season: 26 rec, 414 yards, 6 TD

WR Dorian Leonard – No. 15 Longview (12-5A)
Overall: 7-1 District: 4-0
Last week: Longview got through the tough part of its district schedule unscathed after a 37-22 win over North Mesquite. Leonard caught six passes for 106 yards and two touchdowns.
Next week: vs. Tyler Lee 4-4 (1-3)

WR Roderick Bernard – Houston Sharpstown (21-4A)
Overall: 3-5 District: 2-4
Last week: Off
Next week: at Houston Austin 2-7 (1-6)
Season: 24 rec, 352 yards, 2 TD; 42 rush, 364 yards, 4 TD

S Jason Hall – South Grand Prairie (7-5A)
Overall: 2-6 District: 0-5
Last week: South Grand Prairie remained winless in 7-5A with a 28-21 loss to Midlothian. Three of the Warriors’ five district losses have come by seven points.
