QB Jerrod Heard – No. 7 Denton Guyer (5-4A)
Overall: 9-2 District: 7-0
Last week: Heard led Guyer to an easy 69-7 win over Saginaw in the first round of the 4A Division 1 playoffs. The future Longhorn QB completed 8 of 13 passes for 163 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He also ran 10 times for 70 yards and two scores.

DE Derick Roberson – No. 2 San Antonio Brennan (28-4A)

Last week: The Bears kept cruising with a 56-0 bi-district win over Shertz Clemens. Roberson and the Brennan defense haven’t allowed a touchdown since Sept. 12.

WR Armanti Foreman/RB D’Onta Foreman – No. 4 Texas City (24-4A)

Last week: The Foreman twins were at it again for the Stingarees, finishing with five total touchdowns in Texas City’s 41-19 win over Rosenberg Terry. RB D’Onta led the way with 243 yards and four scores on 13 carries. WR Armanti pitched in with 85 yards and a touchdown on four receptions.

S John Bonney – No. 5 Houston Lamar (20-5A)
Overall: 10-0 District: 6-0
Last week: Lamar allowed only 144 total yards of offense to Katy Morton Ranch in a 38-14 bi-district round win. The Redskins have lost only one game in the last 35 times they’ve taken the field. They’ve won all but one game this season by double digits.

WR Lorenzo Joe – Abilene Cooper (2-5A)
Overall: 6-4 District 5-3
Last week: Despite a broken left (non-throwing) hand, Joe guided Cooper to an easy 49-14 win over El Paso Coronado. He didn’t put up his typically big numbers, but he completed 12 of 17 passes for 175 yards and ran three times for 11 yards.

RB Kevin Shorter – No. 2 Newton (10-2A Division 1)
Overall: 10-0 District 7-0
Last week: Newton cruised through the first round of the 2A playoffs with a 39-0 win over Troup. Still without the concussed Shorter, Newton ran for 341 yards and five touchdowns as a team.

C Terrell Cuney – Jasper (20-3A)
Overall: 7-3 District: 3-1
Last week: Cuney’s brother, Terrance, continued his successful senior season with a 245-yard, two-touchdown performance in Jasper’s 44-34 win over Palestine. Terrell led an offensive line that paved the way for nearly 300 yards on the ground.

DT Trey Lealaimatafao – San Antonio Warren (27-5A)
Overall: 9-2 District: 7-1
Last week: Warren scored the go-ahead touchdown with only :38 left in the game in its 48-44 win over SA East Central. No games are gimmes, but Warren’s path to the 5A Division 1 semifinals looks manageable with a favorable draw in the Region 4 bracket.

Season: 54 tackles, 7 TFL

WR Emanuel Porter – Dallas Lincoln (12-4A)
Overall: 8-3 District: 6-1
Last week: Lincoln took care of UT linebacker pledge Cameron Hampton and Dallas Carter with a 30-13 win in the bi-district round. Porter finished with only two catches for 25 yards while UT-A basketball pledges Erick and Derrick Neal combined for 15 catches for 193 yards.
4AD2 Area round: vs. Frisco 8-3 (5-2); Friday at AT&T Stadium (Arlington)
Season: 37 rec, 600 yards, 7 TD

WR Dorian Leonard – No. 13 Longview (12-5A)
Overall: 10-1 District: 6-0
Last week: Leonard led the way with four receptions for 88 yards and a score as Longview coasted to a 46-21 win over Rowlett in the first round of the 5A Division 2 playoffs.
5AD2 Area round: vs. McKinney Boyd 7-4 (4-1); Saturday at Richardson Ram-Wildcat Stadium (Dallas)

2015

OL Patrick Vahe – No. 14 Euless Trinity (6-5A)

Overall: 9-2 District: 7-0

Last week: Trinity won its ninth straight game with a 49-21 decision over Flower Mound Marcus in the bi-district round. Vahe helped the Trojans rush for 328 yards as a team in the win.

5AD2 Area round: vs. Mansfield Timberview 8-3 (4-3); Saturday at AT&T Stadium (Arlington)

RB Jordan Stevenson – No. 17 South Oak Cliff (11-4A)

Overall: 10-1 District: 6-1

Last week: Stevenson ran for 164 yards and a score on 16 carries in Cliff’s 51-7 beatdown of Dallas Samuell in the 4A D1 opening weekend. The Bears’ sole loss this season was to district champ Dallas Skyline, a 25-20 defeat.

DB Johnny Shaw – No. 13 West Orange-Stark (21-3A)

Overall: 9-1 District: 6-0

Last week: The Mustangs flew past Huffman Hargrave 41-9 to start their run in the 3A Division 1 playoffs. Shaw and the West Orange-Stark defense held Hargrave to 38 rushing yards and forced two interceptions in the win.

OL Connor Lanfear – Buda Hays (27-4A)

Overall: 9-2 District: 6-1

Last week: Lanfear and the Rebel offensive line paved the way for 277 rush yards on 51 carries in their easy 45-20 win over San Antonio Brackenridge in the bi-district round.

4AD1 Area round: vs. Leander Rouse 8-3 (4-2); Friday at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex (Austin)

DB Jalen Campbell – Corpus Christi Flour Bluff (31-4A)

Overall: 10-1 District: 7-0

Last week: Flour Bluff raced past Mercedes 63-21 to advance to the area round of region 4 of the 4A Division 2 playoffs. The Hornets have been without Campbell all season due to an offseason knee injury.

DT Bryce English – No. 2 DeSoto (7-5A)

Overall: 11-0 District: 7-0

Last week: The second-ranked Eagles took care of Copperas Cove 67-21 to set up one of the best matchups of the area round – a date with No. 12 Coppell.

WR Reggie Hemphill – No. 10 Manvel (22-5A)

Overall: 10-1 District: 7-0

Last week: The Mavericks topped La Porte 45-21 to open their 5A Division 2 playoff run. Hemphill didn’t make it into the box score in the easy Manvel victory.

5AD2 Area round: vs. Fort Bend Bush 9-2 (5-2); Friday at Veterans Stadium (Pasadena)

RB Donald Catalon – Aldine Eisenhower (18-5A)
Overall: 4-7 District 4-2
Last week: Down 24-9 midway through the third quarter, Eisenhower mounted a comeback but fell one point shy, falling to Houston Cypress Ridge 24-23. Catalon rushed 22 times for 161 yards and Eisenhower’s final touchdown with 9:59 left in the game – a two-point conversion was not attempted.

Season: 123 rush, 765 yards 7 TD; 17 rec, 311 yards, 2 TD

LB Cameron Hampton – Dallas Carter (11-4A)
Overall: 9-2 District: 7-0
Last week: The unbeaten winner of district 11-4A went down in the first round, 30-13, to Dallas Lincoln. The 30 points against was a season high for a defense that held district opponents to under 10 points per contest this year.

ATH Keke Coutee – Lufkin (14-5A)

Overall: 9-4 District: 5-1

Last week: Coutee had 51 yards on 12 total touches in Lufkin’s season-ending 42-24 loss to Humble Atascocita in the opening weekend of the 5A Division II playoffs.

Season: 73 rec, 994 yards, 8 TD; 9 rush, 35 yareds

FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR PLAYOFFS

2014

LB Otaro Alaka – Cy Falls (17-5A)
Overall: 2-8 District: 2-7
Season recap: Falls finished ninth in the ten-team 17-5A district. The Eagles, expected to have a dominant defense and finish second in the district by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, allowed a district-worst 331 points this fall.

DE Sione Teuhema – Keller (4-5A)
Overall: 5-5 District: 2-5
Season recap: After finishing last season strong, Keller got off to a horrid 1-4 start to district play in 2013. Despite having four-star Sione and 2015 five-star Maea Teuhema, the Indians finished in sixth place in 4-5A.

DL Jake McMillon – Abilene (2-5A)
Overall: 3-7 District: 3-5
Season recap: Abilene missed the playoffs for the first time since 1999 after digging themselves into a 1-4 hole to start district play. The young Eagles won two of their final three, but a two-point loss at Midland prevented a possible tie-break scenario for the final 2-5A playoff spot.
Season stats: 29 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT

WR Garrett Gray – Marble Falls (25-4A)
Overall: 4-6 District: 2-4
Season recap: The Mustangs put up a good fight in the tough 25-4A district, but they came two points shy of the fourth playoff spot in a win-and-in final regular season game against Leander. Gray had a marvelous season, leading Central Texas in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Season: 75 rec, 1,191 yards, 16 TD; 15 rush, 94 yards, 4 TD

WR Roderick Bernard – Houston Sharpstown (21-4A)
Overall: 5-5 District: 4-4
Season recap: The young Apollos didn’t live up to the second-place prediction of DCTF. Sharpstown lost two of its final four games and lost out on the playoffs to Waltrip on a tie break. Bernard finished ninth in 21-4A with 364 receiving yards and eighth in the district with 594 rushing yards.
Season stats: 24 rec, 364 yards, 2 TD; 60 rush, 594 yards, 4 TD

S Jason Hall – South Grand Prairie (7-5A)
Overall: 4-6 District: 2-5
Season recap: The Warriors just weren’t’ up to snuff this season in the tough 7-5A district. They finished the season off strong with back-to-back wins, but an 0-5 start to district play was way too much to overcome. Three of South Grand Prairie’s five district losses came by one score.

2015
OL  Aaron Garza – Sherman (13-4A)
Overall: 4-6 District: 3-4
Season recap: Dave Campbell’s Texas Football pegged Sherman for the No. 2 team in 13-4A, but a 1-2 start to district play coupled with a 1-2 finish kept the Bearcats out of the playoffs.
