In a published report in Tuesday’s Wall Street Journal, Alabama coach Nick Saban’s wife insists that they’re staying in Alabama, strongly downplaying any possibility that Saban might leave the Crimson Tide to coach Texas.
Last month, various media outlets reported Terry Saban had been in Austin house-hunting, fueling rumors that Nick Saban — who has won the last three national championships with Alabama — might replace Mack Brown as the Longhorns’ coach.
In Tuesday’s report, however, Terry Saban called those reports of her house-hunting in Austin “rumors with absolutely no foundation.”
“We’re staying,” she continued. “We’re not going anywhere.”
Saban’s comments were part of a larger article on the couple. In it, Terry Saban also said that that years ago, rebuilding a football program used to be “even more fun than winning,” but that it has lost its appeal as the couple has aged.
Nick Saban is 62, Terry Saban is 61. They have been married since 1971.
Nick Saban declined to comment for the Wall Street Journal story.
