Last week: A 63-21 win over Amarillo makes three playoff wins in a row of greater than 20 points. Heard scored three total touchdowns and gained 251 yards as the Wildcats ran out to a quick 21-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

Last week: Brennan hasn’t slowed down since cruising through the regular season. Its 60-7 win over Victoria West makes nine straight wins by 50-plus points. The Bears held Victoria West to just 134 total yards, including 11 rushing yards on 30 attempts.

Last week: Trinity survived an offensive showcase against Southlake Carroll, 42-38. The teams scored on five consecutive drives in the second quarter, but Trinity came up with the big play – a fourth-quarter fumble recovery – to advance to play the state’s second-ranked team, DeSoto.

DB Johnny Shaw – No. 13 West Orange-Stark (21-3A)
Overall: 11-1 District: 6-0
Last week: Shaw helped eliminate future teammate Terrell Cuney in West Orange-Stark’s 18-16 regional win over Jasper. The Mustangs trailed in the fourth quarter, but a touchdown with 1:28 remaining was enough to advance to the quarterfinals where they will play No. 7 Carthage.

DT Bryce English – No. 2 DeSoto (7-5A)
Overall: 13-0 District: 7-0
Last week: DeSoto trailed 17-7 in the second quarter before turning it into high gear and running away with a 56-34 over a very good Arlington Martin team. The win sets up a great quarterfinal featuring two future Longhorns when DeSoto meets No. 14 Euless Trinity and Patrick Vahe.

WR Reggie Hemphill – No. 10 Manvel (22-5A)
Overall: 12-1 District: 7-0
Last week: Reggie Hemphill caught three passes for 59 yards and a touchdown as Manvel ran out to a 35-14 halftime lead and cruised to a 49-21 win over Houston Memorial. Manvel did most of its damage on the ground with 302 total rushing yards.

WR Armanti Foreman/RB D’Onta Foreman – No. 4 Texas City (24-4A)
Overall: 11-0 District 7-0
Regional round: Texas City’s run ended in an upset in the regional round – a 37-34 loss to Brenham. Texas City was up 21-10 – thanks in part to 258 total yards and two touchdowns between the Foreman twins – but Brenham scored 27 unanswered points and hung on late to move on.

RB Donald Catalon – Aldine Eisenhower (18-5A)
Overall: 4-7 District 4-2
Bi-District round: Down 24-9 midway through the third quarter, Eisenhower mounted a comeback but fell one point shy, falling to Houston Cypress Ridge 24-23. Catalon rushed 22 times for 161 yards and Eisenhower’s final touchdown with 9:59 left in the game – a two-point conversion was not attempted.

WR Lorenzo Joe – Abilene Cooper (2-5A)
Overall: 8-5 District 5-3
Regional round: Joe completed 12 of 19 passes for 113 yards and a score and ran 29 times for 99 yards, but Cooper came up short, 28-23, to Cedar Hill in the 5A Division 2 playoff. Cooper trailed 28-10 entering the fourth quarter and couldn’t complete the comeback.

S John Bonney – No. 5 Houston Lamar (20-5A)
Overall: 11-1 District: 6-0
Regional round: For only the second time since November 2011, Houston Lamar lost. The Redskins scored first, but were held to under a season low 13 points by game’s end. Three turnovers proved costly as Lamar’s hope to return to the state title game came up three rounds short.

RB Kevin Shorter – No. 2 Newton (10-2A Division 1)
Overall: 12-1 District 7-0
Regional round: Newton, playing without the injured Shorter, saw its dream season come to a rough end in a 55-36 loss to White Oak.

C Terrell Cuney – Jasper (20-3A)
Overall: 8-4 District: 3-1
Regional round: Jasper rushed for 259 yards against West Orange-Stark, but a touchdown with 1:28 to go eliminated the Bulldogs, 18-16, preventing them from avenging their lone district loss of the season to one-loss Carthage in the quarterfinals.

WR Emanuel Porter – Dallas Lincoln (12-4A)
Overall: 8-4 District: 6-1
Area round: Porter contributed 51 yards on 3 receptions, but Frisco scored the final 17 points of the game to edge Lincoln 24-21 in the second round of the 4A Division 2 playoffs.
Season stats: 40 rec, 651 yards, 7 TD

LB Cameron Hampton – Dallas Carter (11-4A)
Overall: 9-2 District: 7-0
Bi-District round: The unbeaten winner of district 11-4A went down in the first round, 30-13, to Dallas Lincoln. The 30 points against was a season high for a defense that held district opponents to under 10 points per contest this year.

WR Dorian Leonard – No. 13 Longview (12-5A)
Overall: 11-2 District: 6-0
Regional round: For the second straight season Longview bowed out in the regional round, this time with a 45-35 loss to A&M Consolidated. Dorian Leonard caught 6 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown, but two defensive scores for Consolidated were too much for the Lobos to overcome.

2015

RB Jordan Stevenson – No. 17 South Oak Cliff (11-4A)
Overall: 11-2 District: 6-1
Regional round: Over 100 points were scored and over 1,100 yards gained in South Oak Cliff’s 64-46 loss to Wylie in the 4A Division 1 regionals. Stevenson ran for 92 yards and caught two passes for another 28 yards and a score, but Cliff’s season came to a quick halt by way of Wylie’s unrelenting offense.
Season stats: 217 rush, 2,019 yards, 18 TD; 16 rec, 307 yards, 2 TD

OL Connor Lanfear – Buda Hays (27-4A)
Overall: 11-2 District: 6-1
Regional round: Lanfear and the Hays Rebels were bounced from the playoffs by Rouse in a 35-10 loss to Leander Rouse. The Rebels were held to just 18 rushing yards on 30 attempts in the loss.

ATH Keke Coutee – Lufkin (14-5A)
Overall: 9-4 District: 5-1
Bi-District round: Coutee had 51 yards on 12 total touches in Lufkin’s season-ending 42-24 loss to Humble Atascocita in the opening weekend of the 5A Division 2 playoffs.

DB Jalen Campbell – Corpus Christi Flour Bluff (31-4A)
Overall: 10-2 District: 7-0
Area round: Flour Bluff, who played without Jalen Campbell all season due to a torn ACL, lost its area round matchup with Port Lavaca Calhoun, 27-21.

FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR PLAYOFFS

2014

LB Otaro Alaka – Cy Falls (17-5A)
Overall: 2-8 District: 2-7
Season recap: Falls finished ninth in the ten-team 17-5A district. The Eagles, expected to have a dominant defense and finish second in the district by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, allowed a district-worst 331 points this fall.

WR Roderick Bernard – Houston Sharpstown (21-4A)
Overall: 5-5 District: 4-4
Season recap: The young Apollos didn’t live up to the second-place prediction of DCTF. Sharpstown lost two of its final four games and lost out on the playoffs to Waltrip on a tie break. Bernard finished ninth in 21-4A with 364 receiving yards and eighth in the district with 594 rushing yards.

DE Sione Teuhema – Keller (4-5A)
Overall: 5-5 District: 2-5
Season recap: After finishing last season strong, Keller got off to a horrid 1-4 start to district play in 2013. Despite having four-star Sione and 2015 five-star Maea Teuhema, the Indians finished in sixth place in 4-5A.

DL Jake McMillon – Abilene (2-5A)
Overall: 3-7 District: 3-5
Season recap: Abilene missed the playoffs for the first time since 1999 after digging themselves into a 1-4 hole to start district play. The young Eagles won two of their final three, but a two-point loss at Midland prevented a possible tie-break scenario for the final 2-5A playoff spot.
Season stats: 29 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT

WR Garrett Gray – Marble Falls (25-4A)
Overall: 4-6 District: 2-4
Season recap: The Mustangs put up a good fight in the tough 25-4A district, but they came two points shy of the fourth playoff spot in a win-and-in final regular season game against Leander. Gray had a marvelous season, leading Central Texas in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Season stats: 75 rec, 1,191 yards, 16 TD; 15 rush, 94 yards, 4 TD

S Jason Hall – South Grand Prairie (7-5A)
Overall: 4-6 District: 2-5
Season recap: The Warriors just weren’t’ up to snuff this season in the tough 7-5A district. They finished the season off strong with back-to-back wins, but an 0-5 start to district play was way too much to overcome. Three of South Grand Prairie’s five district losses came by one score.

OL Maea Teuhema – Keller (4-5A)
Overall: 5-5 District: 2-5
Season recap: After finishing last season strong, Keller got off to a horrid 1-4 start to district play in 2013. Despite having five-star Maea and 2014 four-star defensive end Sione, the Indians finished in sixth place in 4-5A.

OL Aaron Garza – Sherman (13-4A)
Overall: 4-6 District: 3-4
Season recap: Dave Campbell’s Texas Football pegged Sherman for the No. 2 team in 13-4A, but a 1-2 start to district play coupled with a 1-2 finish kept the Bearcats out of the playoffs.
