Charlie Strong is practicing what he preaches when it comes to building his team from the inside out. Saturday’s commitment of Houston Westside offensive tackle Toby Weathersby made three linemen in four pledges since Strong has taken the reins of the football program.
Weathersby, a 247Sports Composite four-star prospect, was in Austin on Saturday to watch UT’s first full-pads practice of the spring when he announced he intends to sign with the Longhorns next February.
“Proud to say I’m a Longhorn,” Weathersby said in a tweet.
The 6-4, 295-pound lineman is rated as the 15th offensive tackle prospect in the country and the 26th overall recruit in the state 247Sports Composite. He is the highest rated player Strong has added to the class he inherited from Mack Brown. Euless Trinity offensive lineman Patrick Vahe is the only player rated higher in the Longhorns nine-man class.
Weathersby held offers from Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Florida and others.
