As expected, Augie Garrido will be staying at Texas beyond next season.

Texas announced a two-year extension with its baseball coach on Tuesday, keeping Garrido in Austin through the 2017 season.  The deal seemed to be a formality after Garrido, the winningest coach in college baseball history, led the Longhorns to a tie for third place in the College World Series.

Garrido, 75, has led Texas to a national-most eight CWS appearances since 2000. His teams won titles in 2002 and 2005.

“We’re pleased with the great postseason run the team had this year,” athletic director Steve Patterson said in a statement. “We’re excited to have Augie around for another three years to try and win more National Championships.”
