Texas defensive lineman Malcom Brown is in the running for two awards.
Brown landed on watch lists Thursday for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy for the nation’s top defensive player and the Outland Trophy for the nation’s top offensive or defensive lineman. Longhorns center Dom Espinosa joined Brown on the 64-man Outland list.
Longhorns Brown, defensive end Cedric Reed, and cornerback Quandre Diggs are among 81 players in play for the Bronko Nagurski. Earlier this week those three were recognized by the Bednarik, which, like the Bronko Nagurski, honors the defensive player of the year. Pittsburgh’s Aaron Donald won both awards last season.
