Texas QB David Ash, RB Johnathan Gray given full medical clearance

Posted July 21st, 2014

Texas quarterback David Ash and running back Johnathan Gray were among a lengthy list of players that were given full medical clearance for fall training camp.

Ash suffered a Jones fracture in his foot during spring practice and needed surgery. He wore a boot in May and June and only started throwing in voluntary 7-on-7 practices just recently.

Gray suffered a torn Achilles last season against West Virginia. This season, the junior is expected to comprise a three-man rotation in the backfield along with Malcolm Brown and Joe Bergeron.

Also, linebacker Jordan Hicks (Achilles) was also cleared for training camp, as expected. He suffered an injury against Kansas State last season.

Offensive tackle Kent Perkins suffered a dislocated knee cap during spring drills, and he was cleared medically, as was tight end Greg Daniels (shoulder).

Freshman safety Erik Huhn and senior cornerback Sheroid Evans are still working through knee injuries and will have limited participation when camp begins.

Freshman linebacker Deoundrei Davis (knee) has not been cleared medically, the school said.
