Texas’ thinning receivers unit took another hit Wednesday with news that Jaxon Shipley is out with a hamstring injury.
Shipley, the team’s top returning pass-catcher, sustained the injury Monday at practice, according to a statement released by a team spokesperson. There was no timetable given on his return.
Shipley caught 56 passes for 589 yards and one touchdown in 2013.
The receiver position, considered one of the weakest on the team, was already without three contributors. Kendall Sanders, a projected starter, and redshirt freshman Montrel Meander, were dismissed from the program after being charged with sexual assault. They are due in court Thursday. Daje Johnson is suspended for a violation of team rules but is allowed to practice. He will miss at least one game as part of the suspension.
Longhorns coach Charlie Strong will meet with the media at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
