Longhorns coach Charlie Strong met with the media Friday at the team’s media day. Here are a few highlights:
-Strong said the team’s culture won’t change until players’ attitudes change. He added that leadership right now is coming from coaches, not seniors. That must change, he said.
-Injury-prone quarterback David Ash is off limits from contact. Strong said Ash won’t be hit until the season opener against North Texas.
-Tight ends coach Bruce Chambers said John Harris is practicing with wide receivers. Harris, a senior, has played both positions in his career.
-Strong said the back up quarterback battle between Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard “will sort itself out.”
-Sunday’s practice during fan appreciation day will be be standard. Fans will see position drills and things of that sort. Don’t expect to see much scrimmaging.
