The only way to tailgate: Chevy releases Texas Longhorns edition pickup truck

Posted September 10th, 2014

Presenting the most Texas thing ever to Texas: a burnt orange, Bevo-branded pickup truck.

According to Sporting News, Chevrolet has announced a 2015 Texas Longhorns Silverado special edition package, available nationwide in October. In addition to that beautiful paint job (Sunset Orange Metallic, according to Chevy), the truck also features a couple of tasteful Longhorns logos on the side of the bed and on the tailgate.

The car manufacturer and the University of Texas are in a multi-year sponsorship agreement, according to the sports website, and the Silverado is the official truck of the university, Texas Exes and team mascot Bevo.

The official news release from Chevy also includes some numbers that might warm your Lone Star heart, from company director of truck marketing Sandor Piszar:

“The special-edition Silverado is a natural fit for Chevrolet in Texas, where a Longhorn fan lives in one out of every three households, and those fans are almost twice as likely as average consumers to buy a truck.”

Steer horns mounted on a cattle guard will have to be an after-market customization. Though considering Bevo XIV’s trailer is pulled by a Silverado, that might be in poor taste.
