Adrian Peterson still is a huge figure in Oklahoma.
The former All-American tailback donated $1 million to the Oklahoma athletic department two years ago. It was the largest donation ever made by a former Sooner athlete.
So news that Peterson was indicted in Texas for injury to a child probably hit coach Bob Stoops hard.
He declined to address the Peterson news Monday during a Big 12 conference call with coaches. Stoops said he didn’t have enough information to say anything.
However, he did speak to Peterson’s time at Oklahoma.
“He was a beautiful kid to work with every day we had him here,” Stoops said.
Peterson was inactive for Minnesota’s game Sunday, but will ne available to play this Sunday.
Peterson also has ties to Austin, sponsoring a girls basketball team.
