Posted November 11th, 2015
Texas baseball announced the signings of 12 players to a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday.
Among them are five players from the Austin area: Akins INF Austin McNicholas, Lake Travis RHP Tate Sandford, Round Rock’s RHP Mason Thompson and OF Austin Todd, and San Marcos’ INF David Hamilton.
Ryan Reynolds, of Monroe, La., is the only non Texas among the 12 signees. Reynolds is the son of Shane Reynolds, a former Longhorns pitcher who played in the Major Leagues from 1992 to 2004.
Also joining the team is Katy Seven Lakes’ Conner Capel, the son of former Longhorns pitcher Mike Capel, who went 13-1 in the 1983 national championship season.
“This group has a great balance of pitching and offensive players that will complement what we currently have on campus. This group has several players who have grown up playing on winning teams together and their bond coming in is already very strong. We look forward to them being Longhorns and representing the University of Texas with class and integrity.”
Rounding out the class are catcher Jaxx Groshans (Magnolia), RHP Blair Henley (Fort Worth Arlington Heights), LHP Kyle Muller (Dallas Jesuit), RHP Kevin Roliard (Spring Klein), and INF Andres Sosa (San Antonio Reagan).
