The Sooners hit three home runs off Texas’ Morgan Cooper that plated six runs and Oklahoma starter Chris Andritsos stymied the Texas offense as Oklahoma defeated Texas 6-1 on Friday night in Norman.

Andritsos (4-2) allowed just five hits and held Texas to just one hit after giving up an RBI double to Tres Barrera in the third. He struck out five batters and had no walks through 7 2/3 innings. Texas got runners in scoring position just three times.

Kody Clemens, Kacy Clemens and Tres Barrera accounted for all of the Longhorns’ hits with two apiece.

Cooper (1-1) suffered his worst outing of the season, allowing seven hits with three walks and struck out seven.

It was the Sooners’ first Big 12 win of the season and 600th victory for head coach Pete Hughes. Texas (11-15) dropped to 2-2 in conference play.

Oklahoma (13-13-1) got two runners on in the first inning after Cooper gave up a walk and a single. Jack Flansburg gave the Sooners the lead when he hit a three-run homer deep to right field.

Oklahoma’s Austin O’Brien pushed the lead to four when he hit a lead-off homer in the bottom of the fourth. Cooper struck out the next two batters then gave up a single. Domenic DeRenzo, hitting ninth, connected on a breaking ball that hung high and sent it over the right field wall.
