No. 10 Texas men’s golf in ninth place at U.S. Collegiate Championship

Tenth-ranked Texas is tied for ninth place after shooting 4 over par in the opening round of the U.S. Collegiate Championship on Friday at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga.

UT’s Beau Hossler had four birdies and two bogeys to tie for seventh place at 2-under-par 70. It was Hossler’s fourth straight round under par.

Texas’ Doug Ghim shot a 72, and Scottie Scheffler carded a 73. Longhorn Gavin Hall shot a 77, and Taylor Funk had a 79.


Fourth-ranked Florida State is in the lead at 6 under par, and Virginia is one stroke back in second. Virginia’s Derek Bard had an eagle, five birdies and a bogey to finish in the lead at 6 under par.
