A day after being ranked No. 1 in the GolfWeek/Sagarin rankings, Texas junior Beau Hossler was named to the Ben Hogan Award watch list. The Colonial Country Club, the Friends of Golf and the Golf Coaches Association of America selected Hossler to be on the list of 25 golfers from around the country.
The award, the most prestigious in men’s college golf, is given to the top college player at any level and takes into account all collegiate and amateur competitions in a 12-month span.
A list of ten semifinalists will be announced on April 13. From that group three finalists will be announced on May 3. The winner will be announced at a banquet at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth on May 23.
Hossler is coming off an amateur victory that came at the Jones Cup Invitational held in Sea Island, Ga. on Feb. 5-7. He won that competition by six strokes.
