Beau Hossler takes lead at Augusta Invitational

UT’s Beau Hossler shot 8 under par through two rounds at the 3M Augusta Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia on Saturday and leads by one stroke heading into the final round.

Four players are tied for second at 7 under par and UT’s Doug Ghim is in a six-way tie for sixth at 5 under.

Texas had four players shoot under par and is in tied for second place with Illinois at 15 under par. Host Augusta is in the lead at 18 under par.


Hossler had two birdies and a bogey on the front nine in the first round and closed with a birdie and a eagle on the back nine to finish with a 4-under-par 68. He birdied four of the last six holes in the second round to card another 68.

Ghim shot a season-low 67 in the first round and followed with an even-par 72. Gavin Hall and Taylor Funk are tied for 21st place after finishing the day at 1-under par. Hall shot a 71 and a 72 and Funk carded a 70 and a 73.

The Longhorns will play the final round with Augusta and Illinois on Sunday at 9:10 a.m.
