UT’s Gavin Hall shot 6 under par through two rounds to take the lead and help top-ranked Texas move into first place at The Maxwell in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Hall had five birdies in the first round and shot a season-low 66. He rolled in four birdies in the second round for a 68 and holds a two stroke lead over Memphis’ Lars van Maijel. Hall has carded seven rounds in the 60s this season.
Texas is five strokes ahead of Baylor at 13 under par. Oklahoma State and New Mexico are tied for third at 6 under par.
UT’s Doug Ghim followed an opening round 72 with a 3 under par 67 and is tied for 12th place at 1 under. Longhorn Scottie Scheffler shot a 75 then carded a career-low 65 with seven birdies in the second round to tie for 16th place at even par.
Taylor Funk shot a 71 and a 70 and is tied for 22nd place at 1 over. Beau Hossler shot 2 under par in the first round then shot 5 over par in the second round and is tied for 28th place at 3 over.
Texas will play the final round on Sunday at 8 a.m.
