Bevo honored as best live animal mascot in college football

Posted November 3rd, 2015

Does the Longhorns’ current record have you down?

Then this might brighten your day: Bevo was recently named the best live animal mascot in all of college football.

Bevo, which has served as the Longhorns’ mascot for nearly 100 years, beat out LSU’s “Mike,” Baylor’s bears and the Aggies’ Reveille for the title from Fox Sports.

The sports website hailed Bevo for his sturdiness and camera-readiness.

The last Bevo, Bevo XIV, watched over the Longhorns from the sidelines as they compiled a 106-41 record and won a national championship in 2005.

Hundreds sent in photos to when Bevo XIV died this past October.

The search for a new mascot is still underway.
