Wondering what it would have looked like to attend the University of Texas in 1988? Well lace up those Reeboks, and we’ll show you. Footage from an orientation video for international UT students, titled “Hello UT!” offers glimpses of a very retro-looking Texas Union (“famous” for its Mexican Cuisine), a charmingly outdated Co-op storefront and many a student with the decade’s famed short-shorts and mustaches. Not without cheesy ’80s instrumental music or awkward scripted interactions, this video is a true 30-year-old gem.

Read more about the video, which is part of a documentary project about the history of public access television in Austin, here.
