Bianca Turati won in straight sets to move to the quarterfinals at the International Tennis Federation pro circuit in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Thursday.
Turati topped Tiphanie Fiquet of France 6-3, 6-1 to move on to face Allura Zamarripa Friday.
The Texas junior has advanced to the quarterfinals to make it two straight ITF pro events in which . She achieved that feat in Lubbock earlier this month.
Turati and Fiquet were neck and neck early in the first set. The competitors were tied through the first six sets and Turati faced three break points. She held serve and took a 4-3 lead before breaking her opponent and closing out the set.
Turati is coming off a season in which she compiled a 28-4 singles record and earned the Big 12 conference player of the year award. She finished the year as the No. 3 player in the Oracle/ITA Division I singles rankings. Turati currently holds the No. 1 spot in the preseason women’s collegiate national singles rankings.
